Larry had always been a bit of a loner, traveling the world and living independently most of his life. When his doctor told him he needed a hip replacement, he was determined not to let the setback stand in his way – but when he learned about the lengthy recovery the procedure entailed, he did worry how he would manage it alone, as he had no family or friends nearby.
He certainly didn’t want a long stay at a rehab; he would much rather recuperate in the comfort and privacy of his condo. After striking up a conversation with another patient in the waiting room, he learned that in-home care was an option for people in his situation. Previously, when Larry imagined a caregiver at home, he imagined a long-term commitment, not the temporary care he needed.
After researching Las Vegas home care agencies, he found Independent Life Home Care. At his initial consultation with founder Zlata and her team, he learned that caregivers not only provided full-time care to people with many ailments, but they also could offer short-term care to facilitate a safe and speedy recovery from hospital stays and major surgeries – Larry was sold, home care was the perfect solution.
Before his surgery, Larry met with Jenny and Carol, his caregivers. Larry felt comfortable with the idea of having someone help him during the days and evenings, but was confident overnight care wouldn’t be required after his procedure, as he was determined to get back on his feet as soon as possible. His caregivers would help him with:
• Mobility and safety supervision
• Transportation to appointments
• Running errands
• Light housekeeping and laundry
• Facilitating prescribed therapies in the home
Jenny drove Larry home from the hospital once he was released after his hip implant. The level of difficulty afterwards was more than he’d imagined; Larry wished he had scheduled overnight care for at least a few days. Upon hearing this, Jenny called the care team at Independent Life Home Care, and the team was able to arrange additional care beginning that evening.
